NotesJeanne Bardey (April 12, 1872, Lyon - October 13, 1954) was a French painter and sculptor who lived in Lyon. She is known for being the last student of Auguste Rodin. In 1916, Rodin described Jeanne Bardey as his heir, but his last wishes were not respected, and she was removed from his legacy. More than 600 of her sculptures are contained in the collections of Museum of Decorative Arts, Lyon. Other pieces are held by Musée d'Orsay. Bardey had a daughter, Henriette.

Note:
Like most of the women in Rodin's life - his longterm partner Rose Beuret, Camille Claudel, Gwen John - Jeanne Bardey got a raw deal from her relationship with him. Rodin made a will in her favor, which was annulled when, after his fourth stroke, and when it has been argued he was incapable of informed assent, he was persuaded to sign a deed of gift willing all his estate to the French State.
