NotesCarl Josef Bauer studied art techniques at the Kunst-Akademie, Munich, under Professors Diez and Jank. He began exhibiting his art in Munich and other major German cities in 1914. During the 1920's Bauer developed a very distinctive, Art Deco style, particularly in his etchings which were often printed in both colors and in black and white. Most were published by the house of Hanfstaengl in Munich.
